"The prophets...testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow...
'Which things
the angels desire
to look into.'"
1 Peter 1:10-12.
"Jesus said, 'There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.'" - Luke 15:10.
What do the angels desire to see? Dwelling in light of God's radiant
glory,
Viewing perfection continually--
What would they know of an incomplete story?
What could the angels be
yearning to see?
Shouting for joy at Creation's first dawning;
Trembling to see mankind's
innocence lost;
Knowing God's judgement on sin
(even angels
Who disobeyed Him found that hell
was the cost)--
Was this what the angels had
wanted to see?
Justice AND mercy are both in God's nature;
He prepared Heaven, not hell, as
man's goal.
So angels sang "Glory!" when God
became human
and shed His own blood to
redeem each lost soul.
(The "glory to follow" they
waited to see.)
Christ's birth and death may seem
meaningless gestures
'Til Faith sees Him risen, and yields
to His voice.
Redeemed and forgiven, a soul
bound for Heaven,
A story completed and angels
rejoice...
And THIS is what angels desire to see. Wanda B. Goines
